Finding Affiliates

With an affiliate program you generally get back what you put in. The minimum is putting a 'join our affiliate program' link on your homepage. The maximum is spending every waking hour hunting for more affiliates. What we recommend is that you devote a set amount of time each week, even if it's only an hour to finding new affiliates.

The methods of finding affiliates are:-

  • Submission to affiliate directories
  • Spot in affiliate e-zines
  • Affiliate finding software
  • Posting on affiliate forums
  • Competition affiliates through google

Affiliate Directories

We are compiling a list of affiliate directories. You should submit your new affiliate program to as many affiliate directories as possible. This is a bit tedious but very important and only has to be done once.

Spot in affiliate e-zines

There are several affiliate marketing e-zines on the net. Putting an ad in for your affiliate program should attract affiliates. Always check how many subscribers an e-zine has to see how cost effective it is.

Affiliate finding software

There are software packages designed to help you hunt down sites that should make good affiliates so that you can contact them. We recommend SuperAffiliateTracker. If you purchase through us you'll get it at the discounted price of $89.99 (normally $149.95). Select affiliate finding software from the options on our purchasing page.

Affiliate forums

This is where affiliates hang out. Most affiliate forums have a board where you can post a message on your new affiliate program. You can also signup as a member and participate, this will give you added exposure.

Competition affiliates

Using google you can do reverse lookups for links to your competitors sites. Then you can approach these affiliates, and try to win them over. The individual commission rates feature is very useful in this situation. Do a reverse lookup on google by typing 'host: competitordomain.com'.
